Test of the new 3D printer

First test model on the new in-house 3D printer from Z-corporation

As part of our pattern and structur experiments for the inflatable skin of the Arts Alliance Mobile Venue we made our first test print on the new Z-450 printer. The print took 18 hours to complete, and the delicate hexagon mesh proved to be very fragile at this scale. The powder from the Z-450 is not all that strong until it is coated or infused with a hardener. We managed to break off a few pieces in the process, but it was very useful to be able to see the model in physical form. Next print will be a bit more robust. We have in-house access to the printer which belongs to our colleagues from Pivot Produktdesign and look forward to using it a lot in the future. Next model, the Cheongna Tower.
