Promesse de bonheur

Promesse de bonheur

Art installation, historical restoration, and new furnature design for the entrance of the Art Academy in Oslo. On assignment from artist Marianne Heier as a part of her research grant at KHIO.

The existing entrance of the Kunstakadamiet is a cluttered and disfunctional space, closed to the outside world and only inhabited by students out of necessity. Marianne's concept is to open up this room, return it to it's original color scheme, remove all unnecessary clutter, and adorn the room with 5 custom blown light fixtures based on historical blown glass fixtures Queen Maud had made for the Royal Castle in Oslo.

Various Architects in collaboration with interior architect Aleksandra Danielak will design new functional furniture for the room that give the artistic lighting space of it's own.

This project is Jim's second collaboration with artist Marianne Heier. Construction Site, an installation in the staff room of the National Gallery in Oslo was completed in 2006. Designed in collaboration with architect Mikael Pedersen.
