Guldberg Residential Project

Various Architects were commissioned to design a residential project in a central and attractive area of Oslo, adjacent to Frogner Park. The proposal introduces two distinctive residential buildings featuring a modern architectural expression and well-considered functional solutions.

The project comprises two buildings that complement each other both architecturally and functionally, sharing access to an underground parking garage located between them. The concept fosters a sense of community while ensuring privacy and individuality for each dwelling.

Each building contains three apartments arranged around centrally located entrances, with bedroom areas on one side and living spaces on the other. This layout provides good daylight conditions and attractive views of Oslo while maintaining a contemporary expression suited to the surroundings.

A large oak tree on the site will be preserved and has guided the placement of one of the buildings. Its southern façade curves subtly around the tree canopy, creating a harmonious interaction between architecture and landscape while preserving the site’s green character.

The buildings have simple, refined forms enriched by detailed façades and material variation. Durable brick cladding in varied bonding patterns creates a timeless expression that integrates naturally with the surrounding neighborhood, while slightly offset volumes reduce the perceived scale and give the development a small-house character.
