Ibrahim Elhayawan co-founded Various Architects in 2008 after building an international reputation through his work on some of the world’s most ambitious architectural projects. A graduate of Cairo University in 1995, he later moved to Norway to join Snøhetta following a successful collaboration on the landmark Bibliotheca Alexandrina project in Egypt.

During his 13 years at Snøhetta, Ibrahim played a key role in delivering several globally recognized projects, including the Norwegian Embassy in Berlin. His work contributed to numerous international awards and first-prize competition wins, including the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet, the King Abdulaziz Cultural Center in Saudi Arabia, and the Sheikh Zayed Knowledge Center in the UAE. At the Norwegian Opera & Ballet, one of Norway’s most iconic contemporary buildings, Ibrahim held extensive responsibilities from the competition phase through to the project’s completion.

In 2008, he co-founded Various Architects, where he has since led a wide range of innovative projects, including the award-winning Mobile Performance Venue. In 2009, OMA invited Ibrahim and Various Architects to collaborate as consultants on the competition-winning Taipei Performing Arts Center. Acting as Project Manager and Project Architect, Ibrahim led OMA’s design team in Hong Kong while coordinating and overseeing the work of local architects in Taipei, contributing to one of Asia’s most anticipated cultural landmarks.
